The students in the second year of the bachelor's programme in design at HDK-Valand portray seven different themes based on archival material from Riksarkivet (the National Archive) and Isof (Institute for Language and Folklore)
Based on various events, stories, fates and mysteries found in the archives, they have created objects as well as spacial and graphic design. Folktales and tradition meet official documents, old handwriting and the occasional criminal.
The exhibition presents five different works created together by the students, and in its entirety you will be able to glimpse seven different events in history, where the students have investigated the intersection between the two authoritie’s archives perspectives and practices. This is part of the course "Design, message and publication" which is carried out annually during the autumn semester at HDK-Valand – Academy of Art and Design, University of Gothenburg, in collaboration with Riksarkivet, and for the first time, also Isof.
