i Foajén

The exhibition originates from a photograph taken in 1885, captured from a window of the Hotel Göta Källare on Södra Hamngatan, in Gothenburg. Using this photograph as a starting point, alongside various materials from the archives, the students have designed a collection of objects and artifacts that aim to illuminate and bring history to life.

Anchoring the work to a specific location adds a distinct dimension and invites reflection on contemporary times: Who were the people who lived and worked here? What was daily life like? What hidden stories lie within these streets and buildings?

The design students have approached these questions by intertwining archival research with creative practices, striving to make the archives more accessible and engaging through artistic expression.

This process resulted in a diverse array of outcomes, from physical objects to digital experiences, all tied together by a shared curiosity for the archives and an interest in our collective history.
