Programs - undergraduate and advanced level
At the Department of Education and Special Education, you can study programs at both undergraduate and advanced level. We give one program in English - International Master in Educational Research (IMER) - the others are given in Swedish.
Undergraduate level

The Vocational Studies Teacher Programme, 180 credits, (teaching in Swedish)
Advanced level
International Master in Educational Research (IMER), (teaching in English)
The two-year International Master in Educational Research is based on varied and broad educational research at the Faculty of Education. The programme focuses on education and learning as individual, interactive and collective processes in various settings in society. The International Master in Educational Research will be taught in English, as required by the application criteria.

Nordic Master´s Programme in Education with orientation towards Action Research, 120 credits, (teaching in Swedish)
Action research aims at improving practice, professional development and social change. Practice based questions together with scientific theories and methods feed into action, enriching each other. The programme qualifies for admission to doctoral studies in pedagogical work. The programme consists of four-year half-time education and you can apply for admission in the autumn term.
Special education teacher program, 90 credits, (teaching in Swedish)
The special education teacher program is a further education for teachers with at least three years of experience in teaching after graduation. The program aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the differing conditions in both society and school as well as factors at individual level, which can lead to difficulties in learning. As a special education teacher, you will work preventively to remove obstacles in diverse learning environments, in developing supports measures in the form of additional adjustments and provide assistance for students in need of special support. The program leads to a Diploma in Special Needs Training.
Special Educational Needs Coordinator program, 90 credits, (teaching in Swedish)
The Special Educational Needs Coordinator program is a further education for teachers with at least three years of experience in teaching after graduation. The program develops on the student’s previous teacher education program and professional experience from preschool, preschool class, leisure-time centres, school, adult education or other relevant setting of educational activity. The program leads to a Diploma in Special Educational Needs.
Master of Science (120credits) with a major in Education with Specialization in Educational Leadership, (teaching in Swedish)
Working life is increasingly evolving towards a pedagogical awareness and a continuous professional learning. This is a program for you who work with HR, as a teacher, educator, communications officer, or with assignments and administration in the non-profit sector.
Contents:
The program consists of a compulsory introductory course in leadership with a focus on the field of education. Other courses deal with, for instance strategies for staff development, pedagogical leadership, quality and evaluation, action research, supervision and the exercise of public authority in education. The final compulsory courses consist of scientific methods and a master thesis.
