Flexible Master Courses in Digital Technologies for Heritage Conservation

The University of Gothenburg and Department of Conservation, in collaboration with the Centre for Digital Humanities, offer two Master courses in digital technologies for heritage conservation. The courses may be combined with and support a Master thesis or work-life project.

Digital Technologies for Heritage Conservation

The on-line course KUD111 Digital Technologies for Heritage Conservation 7.5 HEC is implemented through our digital learning platform. Experts in heritage documentation and digital technologies provide tailored instruction through films, protocols and on-line supervision through video communication and forum discussions. The course objective is to develop hands-on skills and in-depth understanding of scientific authentication of computer-based documentation and visualisation in the field of heritage conservation. Students are trained to carry out photogrammetric documentation of heritage objects, buildings and environments, and to post-process, model, simulate and visualise 3D interpretations and associated research data.

Advanced Digital Technologies for Heritage Conservation

The parallel course KUD112 Advanced Digital Technologies for Heritage Conservation 15 HEC is primarily on-line but offers also campus gatherings where the students can get hands-on experience with laser and structured light scanning, and will advance their skills in working with interactive technologies. The course comprises an individual project to designing an interactive application in the field of heritage conservation or museology. 

The departments heritage visualisation laboratory and equipments are accessible for students during the whole course.
