The environmental management at the Institute of Clinical Sciences

At the Sahlgrenska Academy and the Institute of Clinical Sciences, there is an on-going work being conducted for environment and sustainable development.

Our environmental management system is certified according to ISO 14001 and registered according to EMAS. This means that we work systematically with environmental issues and constantly aim for improvements.

The system is regularly  checked through environmental audits and our results are measured through the annual environmental report.

The organization of Institute of Clinical Sciences environmental work consists of the responsible Head of the Institute, responsible heads of the departments, environmental coordinators and environmental representatives.

Each department has one environmental coordinator and the environmental representative group meets at least once per semester and has e-mail contact in between to discuss and follow up environmental issues within the institute. All activities at the University of Gothenburg must produce an Activity list in which concrete measures are described to contribute to increased sustainability.

An activity list has been produced and aim to contribute to sustainable development. The following activities have been selected as significant environmental aspects at our department:

  • Integration of sustainable development in research and education
  • Transport and travel
  • Waste and waste management
  • Chemical handling and laboratory activities

If you have questions about the work for the environment and sustainable development, contact your environmental representative. On the Sahlgrenska Academy's website, you will find comprehensive information about the environmental work at the academy, as well as on GU/environment and sustainable development.
