Dissertation in progressThe thesis Who Brings the Water? Negotiating state responsibility in water sector reform in Niger deals with the possibility of water politics in a context of high dependency on aid. Analysing narrative interviews with Nigerien state agents in the water sector it asks how they concieve of and rationalize the role and responsibilities of the state in water services provision as a consequence of new mechanisms of development cooperation, such as the implementation of the programme approach, decentralisation and privatisation. Stina Hansson is also engaged in a methodology project, together with Maria Stern and Sofie Hellberg, which deals with how we methodologically can approach the agency of being governed. It deals with questions such as how we can understand and apply the concepts of agency of freedom from governmentality and biopolitics perspectives and how we can do so in methodologically rigorous ways.
In 2012 Stina Hansson will start working in two ongoing projects;
- Stemming Violence against Civilians? Effective External Security Sector Reform in Conflict/Post-Conflict Settings - the case of the DRC Together with Maria Stern, Maria Eriksson Baaz and Fredrik Söderbaum
