I am a senior lecturer in English Linguistics, and I specialise in English for Academic and Specific Purposes. I conducted my doctoral research at the University of Alicante (Spain) and the University of Warwick (UK). Before joining the Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Gothenburg I worked at the Centre for Academic English (Department of English) at Stockholm University and the Department of English at the University of Alicante.


I teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels within the areas of English Linguistics, EAP and ESP. I also supervise degree projects within my research field. Some of my previous teaching assignments include:

  • Scientific writing for the European Centre for Disease control (ECDC);
  • Academic writing for secondary school students;
  • Supervision of teacher trainees;
  • Professional development courses for teachers;
  • Communication in English for senior learners.


My research interests include ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and EAP (English for Academic Purposes), as well as intercultural communication, multimodality and EFL/ESL. I have participated in a number of research projects, including “Intercultural communication and the language of business: design of a theoretical model of analysis for the pragmatics of intercultural communication between Spanish and British speakers” and several Comenius network projects.
