About Marina Ghersetti

Marina Ghersetti received her Ph. D. in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2000 with the dissertation Sensational Stories. A Study of News from Angola and of the Death of Princess Diana in newspapers, radio and television

Research Areas

During the last years Marina Ghersetti, in a number of studies, has focused her research on various cases of crisis communication from a mass media perspective. She has also looked into the relationship between news content and news evaluation in print and online media.

Her earlier research has mainly been directed towards news evaluation, sensational and tabloid journalism, and film and cinema habits among the Swedish public.

Teaching

She teaches at undergraduate level, and her courses include the course of Bachelors Thesis on the Journalism programme and Methodology.

Since the autumn of 2002 she has conducted surveys with previous journalism students twice a year.
