About Margareta Hallberg

Margareta Hallberg is Professor in Theory of Science.

Hallberg’s research covers a broad range of topics within theory of science, in particular controversy studies of scientific knowledge, meta-theoretical work on the human sciences, biography included, and social studies of health issues. Hereby she continues to facilitate the combination of epistemology and empirical studies and to stimulate conceptual and methodological reflection across disciplinary boundaries, which have been the main objectives for theory of science at the University of Gothenburg ever since it got its first professorship in the 1960s.

Current research activities

Hallberg is currently research leader of 1) “Science and Politics in Interaction: Antibiotic Resistance, MMR and Child Sexual Abuse”, financed by the Swedish Research Council. 2) “Child Sexual Abuse - the co-production of knowledge, actors and social problems”, financed by Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research, FAS. Another research project by Hallberg is a biography of philosopher of science, Mary Hesse.
