About Malin Dahlström

Research

I have a PhD in economic history and my research is in the field of Business History. I study how competition and various forms of cooperation take shape in Swedish and international business. Currently I am engaged in the project: Understanding international cartels in the 20th century: tracing size and scope at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. My part of the project focuses on the European building materials industry.

Sustainability and how companies have acted in history regarding sustainability requirements is another research interest of mine. Right now I am looking at how the cement industry has acted in some environmental conflicts during the last half of the 20th century.

Teaching

I have previously taught in general first-cycle courses in economic history and in courses at second-cycle courses in specific subjects, such as management in history and structural transformation. My driving force in the teaching is to make the students understand and make connections between different events and contexts.

Since the spring of 2021, I am teaching at the Department of Pedagogical, Curricular and Professional Studies. I am supervising degree projects in teacher education and participating in VFU-courses.
