About Louise Anna Pollock

Louise Pollock, Principal Trombonist with the Gothenburg Opera since 2015, has been awarded over 30 Prizes in national and international competitions, some examples being the Prize of the President of Germany in the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition 2012, 1st Prize at the the University of Music Stuttgart Competition "Lions Club Stuttgart-Schlossgarten" 2013, Winner of the trombone category in the German Music Competition (Deutscher Musikwettbewerb) 2014, Award and Scholarship of the German Music Council (Deutscher Musikrat) 2014, or the 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the International Aeolus Competition for Wind Instruments in Düsseldorf 2016.

Louise has performed as a Soloist throughout Europe with orchestras such as the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Chamber Orchestra Zürich, Waiblingen Sinfonietta, the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra or the Duisburger Philharmoniker. Before she came to the Gothenburg Opera, she was Principal Trombonist with the Stuttgarter Philhamoniker (Germany) for three years.

She grew up in Switzerland and graduated from the "Zürich High School for Mathematics and Science Rämibühl" with the prize of "The best student of the year". She received her music education at the University of Music Freiburg i. Br. (Germany), where she studied with the famous Professor Branimir Slokar and graduated in 2012 with highest distinction (Bachelor of Music). She continued her studies at the University of Music Stuttgart (Germany) with Prof. Henning Wiegräbe (Master of Music ) from 2012-2015 and participated in numerous masterclasses, for example with Carol Jantsch, Jonas Bylund, Ian Bousfield or Joe Alessi.
