About Lars Gunnarsson
Research Interests My research has dealt with children’s development and socialization as they grow up in various environments in Sweden and other countries. Living conditions have been studied from comparative, longitudinal, and interdisciplinary perspectives, as well as that of developmental ecology. International comparisons of measures to support families and the structure and content of preschools have also been part of this research, as is the evaluation of various societal efforts to alleviate the situation for resource-poor families and their ability to break their segregation in deprived neighbourhoods in big cities. Of special interest here are studies of informal and formal social networks surrounding children and parents.
Teaching Interests I like to teach courses dealing with children’s development, learning, and socialization, and I have been especially involved in teaching about the living conditions for children in relation to formal and informal support structures surrounding families and children in various parts of the world. My interest in internationalisation and greater student mobility has also led to my involvement in the development and teaching of courses in English for exchange students.
