Phd Candidate at the Department of political science, University of Gothenburg (2013 - )

Politices Magister from Uppsala University, including ERASMUS studies at master level at L'Institut d'études politiques (IEP) de Paris. Previous academic experience includes courses of Hispanic philology at Universidad de Complutense de Madrid.

Research interests

Areas of special academic interest include issues related to multilevel governance, local governance, intra-EU mobility, CEE migration, migration, the welfare state, and democratic accountability.

Current research

Karin Zelano is currently engaged within the European research project IMAGINATION: Urban Implications and Governance of CEE migration. The IMAGINATION project focuses on migration from Central and Eastern-European (CEE) countries. This project centres on the question what the consequences are of this type of mobility for urban cohesion and urban policies. The project focuses on urban regions in Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden and Turkey and includes the perspective of the CEE countries themselves as well. The IMAGINATION project is coordinated by the Erasmus University Rotterdam and in cooperation with the University of Goteborg, the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna and Koc University Istanbul.
