School of Public Health and CommunityAbout Gunilla Runström
Occupational hygienist at the clinic for Occupational and environmental medicine, where I assess the occupational exposures of the patients attending the clinic.
I am also a part-time post-doctoral researcher in occupational health and environmental medicine with a previous individual research grant from FORTE (dnr 2014-2452). The project is based in the research group Biomarkers and airway inflammation and aims to develop more sensitive screening methods for obstructive airway diseases to facilitate earlier identification of disease condition, progression and exacerbation, using exhaled particles. I currently focus on evaluating more sensitive analyses for inflammatory proteins.
I received my PhD in 2013, whilst working in the Biomaterials Research Unit at Aston University, on the topic of albumin concentrations in tear fluid in conjunction with contact lens wear. 2009 I graduated my combined honours BSc in chemistry and biology from the same university.
Between my PhD and my postdoc I have worked as a research chemist focusing on analysing environmental and occupation exposures and as an occupational hygienist at Stockholm County Council, where I assessed patients' work exposures and gave advice on personal protection.
