About Federico Micolucci
Federico Micolucci, postdoc at the University of Gothenburg is working on innovative treatments to develop novel land-based multitrophic aquaculture systems.
During his master's studies and Ph.D., he grew expertise in the development of pilot plants to produce bio-based products and biopolymers from organic waste substrates.
His background is connected to wastewater treatment, membrane technologies, micro-pollutants removal, nutrients recovery from sludge, and organic waste.
His main interest in research is to achieve a cycle integration of waste & wastewater treatments through the transformation of waste streams into valuable and marketable bio-based products.
In close cooperation with dr. Jonathan Roques, Prof. Kristina Snuttan Sundell, and Prof. Tomonori Kindaichi, He is currently working on researching new eco-friendly methods for the treatment of saline wastewater from RAS systems. The treatment process will mainly take place by combining membrane technologies and biological steps, such as anammox bacteria.
"This work is very exciting for me and of high innovative interest, I am firmly convinced that the union of researchers with their backgrounds has an added value for achieving innovation and optimization of sustainable production systems".
