Chiara Rinaldi
About Chiara Rinaldi
I am currently a researcher at the Gothenburg Research Institute. I joined the School of Business, Economics and Law in 2016 through a H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship grant to carry out a two-year research project “Food and gastronomy as leverage for local development - FOODEV”. My overarching research focus addresses how places at different scalar levels (local, sub-regional, regional, national) can tackle sustainable development challenges through inclusive place-based development strategies, particularly within the context of food and gastronomy. Within the overarching sustainable place development focus, my main contributions are aligned with two main research lines: one dealing with Universities and Higher Education institutions roles’ in society, investigating in particular how universities can both facilitate multi-stakeholder interactions and build capacities, allowing stakeholders to self-diagnose their problems and to co-create potential solutions; the second one dealing with place development strategies (such as place marketing, place branding, tourism, local/regional development), as integrated approaches to support sustainable place development. I produced several research articles as well as having received different research grants on these themes, as evidenced in my CV and publication record. In my career, I have worked as a project designer, project manager, expert evaluator and local support group facilitator in a number of EU co-funded projects, and in other projects granted by Swedish funders.
