Young children as global citizens are the focus of legislation, policy and practice in a range of international, national and local contexts. It concerns the human rights of young children to participation and protection in increasingly globalised worlds. Despite the gains that have been made in children's rights, there are major gaps between the rhetoric of children¿s rights and the reality of rights in their everyday lives.
The lecture provides an historical overview of young children as global citizens and provides contemporary perspectives on major issues and challenges for young children enacting their rights as global citizens.
