Activities, events and information seminars

Events and excursions are arranged throughout the year for visiting researchers and international staff. We also arrange Information Seminars.

Events and excursions

International CaféThe International Café takes place on the first Monday of every month and is an informal meeting place for international researchers, international staff, PhD students, their families and hosts.
Time: 5pm-7pm. Location: Ågrenska villan, Högåsplatsen 2, Gothenburg.

 
 

International EveningThe International Evening is organized in February and the Global Evening is organized during the Global Week in November each year. The location is Ågrenska villan (the Ågrenska residence). The invitation is sent out to international visiting researchers, visiting staff and international guests at the university. The arrangement is an informal get-together, where you have an opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world and enjoy a Swedish buffé.

 

 

City HallThere are two receptions in the City Hall of Gothenburg. In collaboration with the City of Gothenburg an International reception is organized at the beginning of the autumn, and in December Business Region Göteborg invite international researchers and staff to an Expat Christmas Party.


 

Get-together at the International Science Festival for researchers from both the University of Gothenburg and from Chalmers University of Technology. This year the event takes place at Universeum on April 23.

City WalkCity Walk
Accompanied by an experienced guide from the Göteborg City Museum, we visit the historic quarters around Gustav Adolfs Torg.

 

 

 

We visit the Botanical Garden, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Here are grown about 16,000 different species and cultural hybrids in the open and in greenhouses. The Botanical Garden has received several awards over the years and is one of Gothenburg's most visited attractions. Here is also the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences situated. A guide from the Botanical Garden will inform us about the garden and take us for a guided walk. 

 

Loven CentreAll-day excursion along the west coast of Sweden to Strömstad and the Centre for Marine Sciences at Tjärnö. The centre is an organisation in the marine studies infrastructure at the University of Gothenburg. Staff from the Lovén Centre will take us for a guided walk within the premises. Information Seminars

We invite newly recruited visiting researchers, international faculty and staff as well as their spouses to these seminars with topics like Living in Sweden and Working in Sweden.
