Born: 1958
Thesis title: Att vara i en fristad: Berättelser om lindrat lidande inom palliativ vård [Being in a lived retreat. Narratives of alleviated suffering within palliative care]
Joakim Öhlén was born in Falun in 1958 and is a registered nurse. He was awarded his PhD in the Health Care Pedagogics in 2000 by the University of Gothenburg. From 2003 to 2005 he held postdoctoral appointments at the Karolinska Institute and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver in Canada. In 2006 he became reader in nursing science at the Sahlgrenska Academy. Since 9 December 2008 he has held tenure as professor of nursing science in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Thesis: Könsmönster i klassrumsinteraktion. En observations- och intervjustudie av högstadieelevers lärarkontakter "Gender patterns in classroom interaction. Observations and interviews concerning students' interactions with teachers in grade nine of the comprehensive school"
Elisabet Öhrn was born in Gothenburg. After the award of her undergraduate degree in psychology in 1981 she worked in various educational research projects and was awarded a PhD in education in 1991. In 1998 she became a reader at the University of Gothenburg. After gaining her doctorate she was appointed postdoctoral research fellow and then senior lecturer in the Department of Education. Her most recent post was as professor of education at Börås University College. Since 1 March 2008 she has held tenure as professor of education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Gothenburg.

Öjendal Joakim - Faculty of Social Science, School of Global Studies JOAKIM ÖJENDAL – born in Norrköping in 1962 – commenced his international studies at the University of Gothenburg in 1988. After doctoral studies, combined with international undertakings for the UN, UNDP, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, OSCE, the EU and SIDA, he defended his thesis in 2000, Sharing the Good – Modes of Water Management in the Lower Mekong River Basin, within the field of peace and development research. He became senior lecturer at the University of Gothenburg in 2003, He worked there for four years as director of graduate studies and as deputy head of department. His work has focused on global water conflicts, democracy research, and international regionalization, often with an empirical basis in Asia.
Appointed from 1 December 2006 as professor in peace and development research.
