Sahlin Ingrid - Faculty of Social Science, Dept of Social Work INGRID SAHLIN, born in Karlskoga in 1950, took a B.A. in 1971 and in 1975 a degree in social work and social administration. She was as a social worker for fourteen years. She became a licentiate in social work in 1991 and completed her doctorate in sociology at Lund University in 1996 with the thesis På gränsen till bostad: Avvisning, utvisning, specialkontrakt (On the margins of residency: expulsion, deportation, special contract). She was made an associate professor in sociology at Lund University in 1999, and later a research associate and a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Göteborg University. Professor of Social Work at the University of Gothenburg from 1 January 2006.

Samuelsson Bo - The Sahlgrenska Academy
Bo Samuelsson, born 1942, is professor in transfusion medicine since 1992 at The Sahlgrenska Academy, and was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gothenburg from 1997 to 2003. He has published some 170 scientific papers, mostly on sphingolipid based blood group active carbohydrate antigens, their tissue distribution and structural characterization with i.e. mass spectrometry, and their importance in transfusions, allo- and xenotransplantations. He has also an interest in the process of trans disciplinarity, which has resulted in publications.
Bo Samuelsson has received several awards for pedagogical achievements. He was chairman and a founder of ScanBalt.

Samuelsson Tore - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Avd för medicinsk kemi och cellbiologi TORE SAMUELSSON – born in Göteborg in 1951 – defended his thesis in 1983 at the University of Gothenburg, Transfer RNA – Aminoacylation and Codon Recognition and became senior lecturer in medical chemistry in 1987. After several years working within experimental molecular biology and biochemistry he now lectures and researches within bioinformatics. Appointed from 1 April 2006 as professor in medical and physiological chemistry with the focus on bioinformatics.

Sandberg Mats - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Inst of Biomedicine –MATS SANDBERG - born in Lund 1953 defended his thesis “An approach to the identification of the transmitter of the optic nerve” 1982. He had a post doc position at the inst of Biochemistry, Imperial College, London during 1983, was appointed associate professor in 1985, reader in Biochemistry 1988 at the Inst of Anatomy and Cell Biology and from 2000 professor in Biochemistry at University of Gothenburg. His main research interest concerns the chemical communication and the inducible antioxidant system in brain.

Title of dissertation: One "faith" – One Life-world. A phenomenological investigation of religious experience, religious consciousness and their roles in the constitution of a life-world
Åke Sander was born in Gothenburg in 1949. He got his doctorate in Practical Philosophy at the University of Gothenburg in 1988. He became a Docent in Religious Studies in 1992 and was a university lecturer in Practical Philosophy between 1990 and 1997. He was a university lecturer in Religious Studies between 1997 and 1999 and in the Psychology and Sociology of Religion between 1999 and 2007. During 1990 – 2001 he was Head of the Centre for Studies of Cultural Contacts and International Migration. On 1 December 2007 he was appointed Professor of Religious Studies with Special Emphasis on the Psychology and Sociology of Religion at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Sandin Bülow Kersti - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, School of Design and Crafts KERSTI SANDIN BÜLOW, born in Stockholm in 1950, trained as an interior designer SIR/MSA at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design and industrial designer MSD (Architect SIR/MSA and Designer MSD). With her experience from interior design, exhibition design and product design she founded the furniture company Materia in 1992. She is a member of various design-related boards and of the National Council for Architecture, Form and Design. She has been recognised for her entrepreneurial skills and received a number of design awards. Her work is also exhibited in some museums. Professor of Design, especially spatial design, at the University of Gothenburg from 1 July 2005.

In 1992, Anju Saxena (born in 1959)became a postdoctoral fellow in Linguistics at Uppsala University where she has been a teacher and researcher in Linguistics ever since. On 1 September 2007, she was appointed Guest Professor in Linguistics in Memory of Carl and Thecla Lamberg at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Title of dissertation: The Relation between Geographic Mobility and School Behaviour
Joseph Schaller was born in Hungary in 1942. A degree of Bachelor was conferred on him at the University of Gothenburg in 1966 and a degree of Licentiate of Philosophy in 1972. He got his doctorate in 1974 and became a docent in 1979. He has worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Gothenburg since 1965. On 1 February 2007 he was appointed Professor of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Gothenburg.

Schneider Bernd - The Faculty of Science - Title of thesis: Magnitude and Mechanism of the Enrichment of Cadmium at the Sea-Air Interface
Bernd Schneider was born in Kükelühn in Germany. He studied chemistry at the University of Kiel before continuing his studies at the Institute for Marine Research in Kiel, where he obtained his doctorate in marine chemistry. He has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at IfM-Kiel, at GKSS Research Centre (Hamburg) and at the University of Rhode Island. Since 1993 he has led a research team at the Baltic Sea Research Institute in Warnemünde, focusing on the marine carbon dioxide system. He has been appointed Visiting Professor of Chemical Oceanography, focusing on the biogeochemical processes of coastal waters, at the Department of Earth Sciences.

Ola Sigurdson was born in Dalstorp and was appointed reader in systematic theology at Lund University in 1988. He held a post as senior lecturer at the Stockholm School of Theology and was also pro futura research fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in Uppsala and at Cambridge University, before taking up a teaching post at the University of Gothenburg in 2003. He is also a cultural journalist. Since 1 April 2008 he has held tenure as Professor of Systematic Theology
in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Shalev-Gerz Esther - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, Valand School of Fine Arts OVE SERNHEDE, born in Göteborg 1951, studied history, theory of science and research, and sociology. He also trained as a social worker and worked in this field for several years. In 1992 he qualified as a psychotherapist while doing postgraduate work in the Department of Social Work. He completed his doctorate in 1995 with the thesis Modernitet, adolescens och kulturella uttryck (Modernity, adolescence and cultural expressions). Since 2000 he has been director of the interdisciplinary Forum for Contemporary Studies in the Center for Cultural Studies at the University of Gothenburg. Professor of Social Work at the University of Gothenburg from 1 July 2005.

Shekhter Robert – Faculty of Science, Dept of Physics ROBERT SHEKHTER was born in Kharkov (Ukraine) in 1947 and studied theoretical physics at Kharkov State University. In 1970 he was employed by the Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering (FTINT) of the Ukrainian Academy of Science. Robert Shekhter moved to a research position at the University of Gothenburg in 1991 and is a professor of theoretical physics there since 200. His speciality is the quantum theory of solid-state matter, and his research is focused on transport phenomena, mechanical and microwave properties of small size systems. Theses titles: In 1977 Robert Shekhter defended his PhD thesis at FTINT “Charge discretness effects in granular media”. In 1987 he defended a Habilitation Degree thesis at FTINT “Point-contact spectroscopy of metals and semiconductors”.

Maria Sjöberg was born in Säter and grew up in Huskvarna. She obtained her doctorate in 1993 from Stockholm University and since then has mainly worked on research issues in gender history. She became a lecturer in history at the University of Gothenburg in 2001 and was appointed Professor of History at the Department of Historical Studies on 27 April 2009.

Sjögren Peter – Faculty of Science, Dept Matematical Sciences PETER SJÖGREN - born in Gothenburg in 1948. He studied mathematics and other topics at Göteborg University and where he 1972 defended his thesis Studies in classical and generalized potential theory. After working for almost 10 years in Paris, Uppsala and other places, he returned to Gothenburg as a docent. Then he was appointed professor in mathematics there in 1988. His speciality is now harmonic analysis, a central field in mathematics with important applications to other sciences. He has extensive international collaboration, in particular with colleagues in Italy, Spain and Poland, and has been the coordinator of a European research network.

He received his doctorate at the University of Gothenburg in 1980 with the thesis Handens greppfunktion: analys och utvärdering samt en ny testmetod (The Hand’s Grip Function: Analysis and Evaluation and a New Test Method). He was promoted to associate professor at Lund University in 1987 and senior consultant at the Section for surgery of the hand at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Appointed Professor of surgery of the hand, especially joint reconstruction in rheumatic illnesses, at the University of Gothenburg from 1 October 2005.
Solli Rolf - The School of Business, Economics, and Law. Professor of Management Studies and Head of Gothenburg Research Institute, School of Business Economics and Law. His research focuses on processes of management, leadership and accounting in the context of public sector organizations. He has published more than fifteen books and a number of articles in the same area. Prior to his present position, Rolf Solli was for many years Head of School of Public Administration at the University of Gothenburg. He is now leading the research program Managing Big Cities.

Hans Starnberg was born in Hjärtum and graduated as a master of engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in 1980. He was awarded a PhD in physics in 1984, when he was appointed to a post-doctoral post at the University of Cambridge 1984-1986 and then at Northern Illinois University, USA 1987–1988. He became a reader in physics at Chalmers in 1991 and appointed to a senior lectureship in physics at the University of Gothenburg in 1994. Since 14 May 2008 he has been professor of physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Gothenburg.

He has held editorial positions for a number of international journals within the field of economics. Appointed from 1 September 2006 as professor in industrial economics.

Johan Stennek - born in 1961 - got his doctorate at Stockholm University. He has been a lecturer at Stockholm University and at the Stockholm School of Economics. He is on leave of absence from the Research Institute of Industrial Economics where he has been working since 1999. He is attached to the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London and is a member of the Council of Competition Research at the Swedish Competion Authority. He also works as an expert on competitiveness issues for the European Commission. On 1 February 2008 he was appointed Professor of Economics at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.

Styf Jorma - The Sahlgrenska Academy - JORMA STYF Title of thesis: Chronic anterior compartment syndrome of the leg Jorma Styf was born in 1948, qualified as a doctor at the University of Gothenburg, and was awarded a PhD in 1986. He became associate professor in orthopaedic surgery in 1988. During the following years he was visiting professor at the University of California in San Diego, supported by a grant from the NIH. He subsequently worked at NASA on oedema-reducing mechanisms and the harmful effects of microgravity. He has also studied bio-psychosocial function in patients with chronic musculoskeletal problems. In February 2009 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedics at the Department of Orthopaedics.

A problematisation of the concept of law). During 2000–2003 she held a postdoctoral position at ISAK (Institute for Social Studies of Academic Knowledge). She became associate professor in jurisprudence in 2003 at the same university. During 2005–2006 she was professor II at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tromsø, Norway, and from 2006 professor of jurisprudence at the same university.

Karen Söderberg was born in Copenhagen in 1945. A degree in Journalism was conferred on her in Stockholm. She has worked for daily, evening and weekly papers, radio and television as editor, reporter and chief editor. She became editor-in-chief at Sydsvenska Dagbladet in 1999 and later became the newpaper’s correspondent in Denmark. During 1997 - 1998 she was Guest Professor of Journalism at Stockholm University. From the Swedish Publicists' Club she received the Gold Pen award in 2005. On 1 September 2007 she was appointed Guest Professor at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Gothenburg.
Söderblom Staffan - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, Literary Composition, Poetry and Prose - STAFFAN SÖDERBLOM Born: 1947 Staffan Söderblom was born in Stockholm and worked as an editor at the Norstedts publishing house from 1968 until 1977. He then worked as a freelance writer, translator and literary critic. In 1996, he helped to start the Literary Composition, Poetry & Prose authorship course and since then has worked as a teacher on the course. He has published around twenty literary works, such as the monograph Harry Martinson in 1994, and the poetry collection Sa han in 2009. He has been Professor of Literary Composition at Literary Composition since 20 July 2009.

Ingmar Söhrman was born in Töreboda and grew up in Kungshamn. He received his PhD in romance languages from Uppsala University in 1991 and then became Swedish lektor at the University of Alcalá in Spain. In 1993 he was appointed reader in romance languages, in particular Spanish, at Umeå University where he was also a senior lecturer. He came to the University of Gothenburg in 1998. Since 1 July 2008 he had held tenure as professor of Spanish in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg.
