Jacobsson Lars - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Radiation Physics Lars Jacobsson was born in Össjö, 1947. He became Ph.D. in physics at Lund University in 1977. During the period 1978-1992 he worked as medical physicist in Malmö, Linköping and Gothenburg. In 1992 he was appointed as senior lecturer at the Radiation Physics department at the University of Gothenburg. Professor in radiation physics from 2001. Research focussing on radiopharmaceuticals for cancer therapy.
Jacobsson Magnus - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Handicap Research and Institute of Clinical Sciences MAGNUS JACOBSSON was born in Gothenburg in 1953. He studied medicine at the University of Gothenburg and where he also received his specialist training in Oto-Rhino-Layngology and became a specialist in 1986 and associate professor in the same discipline in 1987. His thesis "On Bone Behaviour after Irradiation" was defended at the Laboratory of Exerimental Biology, Department of Anatomy in 1985. The focus of his research has been on osseointegration, dental, craniofacial and orthopaedic implants and bone biology. Jacobsson is employed by Astra Tech AB as Medical Director and Vice President for Research & Development. He is adjunct professor in Biomaterials since 1997.

Jansson John-Olov - The Sahlgrenska Academy, , Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. John-Olov Jansson was born in Örebro, 1954. He studied medicine at the University of Gothenburg and became M.D. in 1981. He got his Ph.D. in Physiology in 1983. 1984-86 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the USA, and in 2000-2001 he was a visiting professor at the University of Cambridge. In 1995 he was appointed as senior lecturer and he became Professor in 2000. During recent years, his research has focused on obesity in relation to immune function.
Jansson Mats – Faculty of Arts, Dept of Literature, History of Ideas, and Religion MATS JANSSON – born in Mariestad in 1956 – earned his Master’s degree at University of Gothenburg in 1982. He defended his thesis – Tradition och förnyelse. Den svenska introduktionen av T. S. Eliot (Tradition and renewal. The introduction of T. S. Eliot in Sweden) – in 1991 at University of Gothenburg and became senior lecturer in literary history in 1998. He has published Kritisk tidsspegel. Studier i 1940-talets svenska litteraturkritik (Critical mirror of its time. Studies in the literary criticism of the 1940’s in Sweden) (1998), Den siste barden. Ord och bild hos Sven Alfons (The last bard. Word and picture in Sven Alfons) (2005), and Om kritik (On criticism) (2002), a selection and translation of Eliot’s literary criticism. In 1982–1983 he was Swedish associate professor at the University of Newcastle and during periods in 1996 and 2000 he has been visiting researcher at St. Edmund’s College, Cambridge University. Appointed from 1 March 2006 as professor in literary history.
Jeansson Lennart - The School of Business, Economics and Law LENNART JEANSSON – born in Kalmar in 1941 – earned his degree in Business Administration at the School of Business, Economics and Law in Gothenburg in 1964. He was employed at Volvo from 1966 in posts including financial- and purchasing manager. He sat on Volvo’s group executive board from 1986, MD of Volvo Cars 1990–1993 and group chief executive 1995–2005. He has held and holds positions on several boards, including as chairman of Stena AB, Volvo Pension Fund and Bil Sweden. He is a board member of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Orkla and Stena Metall. Until 2006 he was chairman of Skandia and vice chairman of the board of the Chalmers University of Technology Foundation. Appointed from 1 January 2007 as Assar Gabrielsson’s visiting professor in applied business management.

Jentoft Svein – The Faculty of Social Sciences - Svein Jentoft – The Faculty of Social Sciences - SVEIN JENTOFT Born: 1948 Thesis: Local coordination problems in the Norwegian fisheries industry Svein Jentoft was born in Bodø, Norway. In 1973, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the Norwegian School of Management in Oslo and a master's degree in sociology in 1976 and later, in 1985 he obtained his PhD in sociology at the University of Tromsø. He worked as a researcher at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada from 1984 to 1985, at Auburn University in Alabama, USA in 1988 and at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA from 1996 to 1997. He was a professor at the Institute of Planning and Social Research of the University of Tromsø from 1988 to 2003 and later became a professor at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science. He is co-editor of the Mare series of books published by the Amsterdam University Press and editor of the Maritime Studies journal. Since 1 May 2009 he has been Adlerbertska Visiting Professor at the Department of Political Science.

Anders Jeppsson was born in Gothenburg and graduated in medicine from Linköping University in 1989. He received a specialist qualification in cardiothoracic surgery at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in 1997 and during the same year was a research fellow at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. He was awarded his PhD in 1998 by the University of Gothenburg and appointed reader in cardiothoracic surgery in 2002. Since 1 April 2008 he has held tenure at professor of cardiothoracic surgery in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. This appointment is combined with a post as senior consultant at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Jodal Ulf - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Paediatrics ULF JODAL was born in Göteborg 1938 and studied medicine at the University of Gothenburg. He was employed at Gothenburg Children’s Hospital and became consultant in paediatrics 1975 and in paediatric nephrology 1987. In 1974 he defended his thesis "Studies of serum and urine antibodies in childhood urinary tract infection". He was appointed as associate professor of paediatrics at the University of Gothenburg 1975 and is professor in paediatric nephrology since 2002. His research has focussed on urinary tract infections in children. The studies cover such aspects as epidemiology, long-term outcome, level diagnosis, risk factors, visualisation of renal damage, asymptomatic bacteriuria, bacterial virulence factors and interleukins. Other fields are pharmacokinetics of antibiotics, efficacy of antibiotic treatment and prophylaxis, intermittent catheterisation, bladder dysfunction and urotherapy.

Johannesson Kerstin – Faculty of Science, Dept of Marine Ecology Kerstin Johannesson is professor in marine ecology since 1997. She received her PhD in zoology in 1986, was during 1997-2000 head of the department of Marine Ecology, and between 2000-2007 Director of Tjärnö Marine Biological Laboratory, at the University of Gothenburg. Her main research interest is evolutionary and molecular ecology using marine invertebrates and macroalgae as model organisms. During 2000-2006 she coordinated the multidisciplinary research programme Marbipp and since 2008 she is coordinator of the Linnaeus centre CeMEB at the University of Gothenburg.

Eva Johansson was born in Gothenburg and after completing her training in social education in 1971 she worked in various position in preschools and after-school centres. Further study led to the award of her PhD in 1999 at the University of Gothenburg. Since 1992 she has been working at the University of Gothenburg as a researcher and teacher on subjects related to learning and ethics in preschool with a particular interest in ethical issues. She became associate professor 2004. Since 1 March she has held tenure as professor of education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Gothenburg
Johansson Folke - Faculty of Social Science, Dept of Political Science FOLKE JOHANSSON – born in Värnamo in 1943 – earned his first degree at the University of Gothenburg. He defended his thesis there in 1978, Sverige partipolitiseras. Dagspressen som en spegel av politisk utveckling 1896–1908 (Sweden becomes party political. The daily press as a reflection of political development 1896–1908) and has subsequently worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Gothenburg. He was appointed senior lecturer in political science in 1995. His research is currently focused on local and regional democracy. Appointed from 1 March 2006 as professor in political science.
Johansson Karin - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, School of Design and Crafts
KARIN JOHANSSON was born in 1964 in Värnamo. She was awarded a degree of Master (One Year) in Jewellery Art at the School of Design and Crafts. She has participated in a considerable number of exhibitions in both Sweden and abroad and she is connected with a number of the world's most prestigious galleries within the field. She is represented in collections both in Sweden and abroad. She is one of the initiators of hnoss - an international gallery for jewellery - which started in 1997. She has built up a large international network within the field. On 1 July 2007, she was appointed Adjunct Professor of Jewellery Art at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg.
Johansson Svante O. - The School of Business, Economics, and Law, Dept of Law SVANTE O. JOHANSSON, born in Gothenburg in 1960, became a Bachelor of Law at Lund University in 1986. He practiced law in different Courts and was appointed associate judge from 1992 to 2004. He also worked as legal adviser in the Ministry of Justice and has participated in many law commissions. He is the average adjuster for Sweden. He completed his doctorate at Göteborg University in 2001 with the thesis Stoppningsrätt under godstransport (The right of stoppage in transit). In 2002 he became an associate professor in jurisprudence. Professor of Maritime and Transport Law at the University of Gothenburg from 1 July 2005 and Professor II at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law from 1 May 2007.
Johansson Ulla - The Faculty of Fine Applied And Performing Arts - ULLA JOHANSSON Born: 1948 Dissertation title: Om Ansvar – ansvarsbegreppet och dess betydelse för den organisatoriska verkligheten Ulla Johansson was born in Växjö and has studied philosophy, Nordic languages, sociology, economics and architecture at Lund University. In the 1980s, she worked as a manager for interdisciplinary housing development projects in the City of Malmö. In the 1990s, she returned to the university and obtained her Doctorate in Business Administration in 1998. She has taught and researched in design management in Växjö and Gothenburg. She was appointed as Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Professor in Design Management at the School of Design and Crafts on 1 December 2009.

Jan Johansson Hanse was born in Grödinge. After studying mathematics, physics and psychology at Stockholm University and industrial work science at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), he graduated in safety engineering at Jönköping University in 1983. He obtained a bachelor's degree at the University of Gothenburg in 1989 and the Diploma of Public Health at the Nordic School of Public Health in 1997. He obtained his PhD at the University of Gothenburg in 1994 and became a docent in psychology in 1999. Since 27 April 2009 he has been Professor of Psychology at the Department of Psychology.

Olof Johansson-Stenman was born in Uddevalla. He graduated in engineering from the Chalmers University of Technology and obtained his PhD at the University of Gothenburg in 1996. In 1999 he became a docent in economics and was promoted to professor in 2004. He has published works in the fields of behavioural economics, environmental economics, public economics, health economics and welfare economics, among others. Since 1 June 2009 he has been Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics. The chair is designated the August Röhss Chair of Economics.
Johnsson Jörgen – Faculty of Science, Dept of Zoology JÖRGEN JOHNSON, born in Norrköping in 1959, received his Ph.D. at the University of Gothenburg in 1992 with a thesis on Growth and Foraging Behaviour in Juvenile Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). He was promoted to associate professor in Ecological Zoology at the University of Gothenburg in 1996. From 2001 to 2004 he was assistant editor to the Journal of Fish Biology. He is Assistant Head in the Department of Zoology at the University of Gothenburg. Professor of Ecological Zoology at the University of Gothenburg from 1 November 2005.

Johnson Lisbeth - Faculty of Social Science, LISBETH JOHNSON, born in Mölndal in 1941, graduated from the College of Social Work and Social Administration in Gothenburg in 1970. She practised as a counsellor in child psychiatry before returning to Göteborg University as a teacher in social work. She completed her Ph.D. in social work in 1986 with the thesis Mot en arbetande teori för handledning i psykosocialt arbete (Towards a Working Theory for Supervision in Psycho-social Work). She became an associate professor in 1991 and Head of the Department for Social Work 1984-1999 and was sub-Dean of the Faculty of Social Science 1999-2005. Professor of Social Work at University of Gothenburg from 1 June 2005.

Jonson Mats – Faculty of Science, Dept of Physics MATS JONSON - born 1947 in Halmstad (Sweden), earned his MSc in Engineering Physics from Chalmers University of Technology in 1971. He received his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the same university in 1978; the thesis title was Aspects of Correlations in Inhomogeneous Electron Systems. After a postdoctoral period at Indiana University he returned to Gothenburg, where he eventually (1993) was appointed to a chair in Condensed Matter Physics at Chalmers. He moved to the University of Gothenburg in 2005, where he is now Professor of Condensed Matter Physics. His research interests are in the field of mesoscopic physics, where he is particularly interested in nanoelectromechanical systems. Mats Jonson is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and served on its Nobel Committee for Physics 1996-2005.

Dr. Jontell is currently Professor of Oral Medicine and Chairman of the Unit for Continuing Education at the Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. In 2004, he had been a Visiting Professor in Oral Medicine at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte and at UNC at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He has been awarded Fellow of Dental Surgery at Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Dr. Jontell has received grants from the following organizations serving as the principal investigator: the Swedish Medical Research Council, the Council for the Renewal of Higher Education and Vinnova. He has published over 100 scientific articles and book chapters in two main research areas. During two years of post-doc training at UNC at Chapel Hill he opened a new line of research on antigen presenting cells of the oral mucosa. In parallel with his immunological research, dr. Jontell is collaborating with Chalmers University of Technology to scientifically develop computerized tools to support the learning process in oral medicine and oral pathology.
Dr. Jontell is an active clinician in oral medicine. He is running Swedish Oral Medicine Network (SOMNET) which organizes distant consultations in oral medicine in Sweden. Dr Jontell is the past president of Swedish Oral Medicine Society and a board member of European Association of Oral Medicine (EAOM). He has served as an Associate Editor for Oral Diseases.

Jormin Anders - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, Academy of Music and Drama ANDERS JORMIN - born in Jönköping, Sweden 1957. He studied at Musikhögskolan, Gothenburg 1976-1980 and left with diploma in improvisation. He is an internationally acclaimed doublebass virtuoso within all kinds of improvised music, a respected composer and a much in demand lecturer. He has during all this also worked as a part-time teacher at HSM in Gothenburg. 1996 he was given a guest professorship at Sibelius- Academy, Helsinki. In 2001, together with Esa-Pekka Salonen, he was given an Honory doctorate at the same school. Since 2002 he is professor of improvisation at HSM. He is a member of KMA (Kungliga musikaliska akademin) and FST (Föreningen Sveriges Tonsättare).

Martin Jönsson was born in Laholm and graduated as a master of economics from Lund University in 1988. He has been working as a journalist since 1981 and is senior editor and deputy editor-in-chief of Svenska Dagbladet. He has also been a senior editor for Journalisten, Dagens Debatt, the Bible, Nöjesguiden, Civilekonomen and Svensk Export. He is an active participant in debates on public affairs. Since 1 September 2008 he has been guest professor in practical journalism at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gothenburg.
Jönsson Sten - The School of Business, Economics, and Law, Gothenburg Research Institute STEN JÖNSSON was born 1940 in Mariestad. He graduated with a masters degree in political studies (Fil. Pol. Mag.) and was employed as assistant by the School of Business, Economics and Law in 1964 and in various positions since then. n 1971 he defended his thesis at this university (Om utvecklingsbolagens planeringsproblem/On the planning problem of Investment Development Companies). He was appointed professor in Business Administration, esp. Accounting & Finance in 1976 and remained in that position until 1996. From 2003 professor of Business Administration, esp Scandinavian Management.
