Björn Halleröd was born on Orust and is a graduate of Umeå University, where he was also awarded his PhD in 1991. Between 1992 and 1993 he was a guest researcher at the Social Policy Research Centre, Sydney, Australia. In 1995 he was appointed reader in sociology and in 1999 professor of sociology at Umeå University. Between 2001 and 2006 he was also a member of the Swedish Research Council’s Scientific Council for Humanities and Social Sciences and vice chair of the council 2004-2006. Since 1 February 2009 he has been professor of sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gothenburg.

Hallgren Ronnie - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, School of Theatre
Ronnie Hallgren - born in 1948 - trained at the University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre and during 1974 – 1993 he worked as Director at Malmö City Theatre, the Radio Theatre and the Swedish Television in Malmö. Between 1994 and 2005 he was Managing Director/Theatre Manager for the Regional Theatre Väst. Since 2005 he has been Managing Director/Theatre Manager for the Gothenburg City Theatre. He was a member of the Government Committee for Equality in the Performing Arts and since 2007 he is the chairperson of the Board of the Dance Museum. On 1 February 2008, he was appointed Professor in Scenic Interpretation with Special Emphasis on Equality within Acting at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Börje - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Molecular and Clinical Medicine Since 2001 professor in Nephrology at the University of Gothenburg and chief physician at the Sahlgrenska university hospital. The position is one of three chairs in Nephrology in Sweden. Born in 1957. MD in 1982, PhD in Physiology 1986, assoc. prof. 1989, specialist in Nephrology 1995, Researcher in integrative physiology 1995-2001. "I have the privilege of combining academic work with clinical duties at the Sahlgrenska University hospital. Daily contacts with patients with kidney disease give ample motivation for attempts to understand the mysteries of the kidney and find ways to improve the treatment."
Research group focused on the glomerular barrier function and mechanisms behind proteinuria. In particular the role of the endothelium and its glycocalyx. Studies on patients, animals, and isolated glomerular cells. Diabetes nephropathy is a fairly new and growing interest for the group. Since 2005 associate dean and responsible for postgraduate studies at the Sahlgrenska Academy.

Harland Rex- Faculty of Science, Department of Earth Sciences REX HARLAND – born in Darlington, UK in December 1944 – earned his first degree (B.Sc. Hons) as an external student of the University of London studying at the Nottingham Regional College of Technology; a master’s degree in Palynology with the internationally renowned M.Sc. course at the University of Sheffield under the supervision of Professor Charles Downie; and a doctoral degree at the University of Alberta, Canada in 1970. After leaving university and Canada he returned to the UK and worked as a palynologist and biostratigrapher with the British Geological Survey for over twenty years, first in Leeds and later in Nottingham, before becoming an independent palynological consultant and Honorary Lecturer at the University of Sheffield in 1993. He was awarded a Royal Society Study Leave to China in 1984 and a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) from the University of Sheffield in 1988. He was also one time Member of Council of the Palaeontological Association; first European Director-at-Large of the American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists; one time member of the Natural Environment Research Council Radiocarbon Committee; and currently Member of the Editorial Board for the Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology. He was recently awarded a medal from the Eighth International Conference on Modern and Fossil Dinoflagellates, Montréal, Canada, May 2008 for his work with dinoflagellate cysts. Appointed from 1st July 2008 to 30th June 2011 as Guest Professor of Marine Geology (Marine Micropalaeontology) in the Department of Earth Sciences.

Thesis title: Incidence and cause of femur fractures
Rune Hedlund was born in Skellefteå and received his medical training at the Karolinska Institute. He became a specialist in orthopaedics in 1982 and was awarded his PhD in 1985 by the Karolinska Institute. Between 1987 and 1988 he was pursuing studies in the field of osteoporosis at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska in the USA. He has practised clinically and has conducted research into spinal surgery as the head of section at the Karolinska Hospital in Huddinge, as operational manager at Linköping University Hospital and currently as the head of the spine team at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He became an adjunct professor at the Karolinska Institute in 2007. Since the 1st of September 2008 he has held the post of adjunct professor in orthopaedics in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Specialist in Clinical Pharmacology 1988, Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacology 1993 and Professor of Sleep Medicine in 2000. Visiting scientist at UNC, Chapel Hill, USA 1984-5, Visiting Professor, Dept of Medicine, University of Sydney, Australia in 1990-91 and 2002-3. Current clinical position as Head of Sleep Laboratory service, Department Medicine, Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Part time position as Medical Director, A Science Invest (Technology transfer industry), Gothenburg, Sweden 1999-2002. PhD student guidance 1993-2008. Chairman of the Swedish Sleep Research Society 1998-2002. National representative in NOSMAC for appointment of Swedish specialists in Sleep Medicine 2007. Main research interests include of clinical neuropharmacology of sleep, respiratory regulation, hypertension and pain control. Current research program on cardiovascular consequences of sleep apnea and insomnia and the treatment of these conditions.

Rob Hellingwerf was born in Amsterdam 1954 and received his PhD from Universiteit van Amsterdam in 1986. In 1989 he was appointed to a readership at the University of Gothenburg and was adjunct professor at the Luleå University of Technology from 1996 to 1999. Since 2003 he has been an EU-certified geologist. He works both as a senior lecturer at the Swedish School of Mining and Metallurgy in Filipstad and also with international assignments in Europe and Africa. Since 15 August 2008 he has been professor of economic geology in the Faculty of Science at the University of Gothenburg.

Gunnel Hensing was born in Hillerstorp in 1956. A degree of Bachelor of Science in Social Work was conferred on her at Lund University in 1980 and a degree of Bachelor of Arts from Linköping University was conferred on her in 1996. She got her doctorate in 1997 at Linköping University and became a Docent in Social Medicine at the University of Gothenburg in 1999. On 1 May 2007 she was appointed Professor of Social Medicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Hilmersson Göran – Faculty of Science,Department of Chemistry GÖRAN HILMERSSON, born in Alingsås in 1966, graduated in chemistry at the University of Gothenburg. He completed his doctorate in 1996 with the thesis On the Role of Solvent in Organolithium Chemistry: Studies of Structures, Reactions and Mechanisms by Multinuclear NMR Spectroscopy. He spent a year doing research at the Scripps Research Institute in California and returned in 1997 to study organic chemistry at Göteborg University. He was made an associate professor in organic chemistry in 1999. Professor of Organic Chemistry with a focus on synthesis at the University of Gothenburg from 1 July 2005.

Hinnfors Jonas - Faculty of Social Science, Dept of Political  Science JONAS HINNFORS – born in Lund in 1956 – earned his BA in 1984 at the Department of Political Science, University of Gothenburg. He defended his thesis in 1992 at the same department, Familjepolitik. Samhällsförändringar och partistrategier 1960–1990 (Family policy. Social changes and party strategies 1960–1990) and became senior lecturer in 1996. Since 2003 he has been a frequent visiting lecturer at the Politics Department, University of Stirling in Scotland, and since 2005 he is a Honorary Research Fellow there. His interests as a lecturer and researcher are primarily in comparative studies of parties and party systems. Appointed from 1 January 2007 as professor in political science.

Suchitra Holgersson was born in Mumbai (Bombay) in India and was awarded a master's degree by the University of Mumbai. She received her PhD in 1991 from the Karolinska Institute and was made reader in experimental immunology in 1991. Since 1 September 2008 she has held tenure as professor of transplantation biology in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. This appointment is combined with a research post at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Martin Holmén was born in Gothenburg and awarded his PhD in economics at the University of Gothenburg in 1998. Since then his career has taken him to the Universities of Stockholm and Uppsala. He was appointed a reader in economics at Uppsala University in 2006. For some parts of 2007 and 2009 he was guest professor at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Since 1 April 2009 he has held tenure as professor of corporate finance in the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.

She received her Ph.D. with the thesis Syntactic Variation in Greek of the 5th Century A.D. She became an associate professor of Greek at the University of the University of Gothenburg in 2003. In 1994-1995 she was Visiting Researcher in the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia. Appointed to be Professor of Greek at the University of Gothenburg from 1 January 2006.
Hultborn Ragnar - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Oncology RAGNAR HULTBORN, born in Stockholm in 1946, completed his doctorate in 1974 in the Department of Histology at the University of Gothenburg with the thesis A Spectrophotometric Method for Analysis of Oxygen Consumption in Vitro on the Microscale and was made an associate professor in histology in the same year. He became a registered doctor in 1975 and university lecturer in oncology in 1991. Professor of Oncology at the University of Gothenburg from 1 April 2005. The appointment also entails a position as senior consultant at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Hulth Stefan – Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry STEFAN HULTH – born in Nässjö in 1965 – qualified at the University of Gothenburg in 1990 as an upper secondary school teacher specialising in mathematics and chemistry. He defended his thesis in 1995 at the University of Gothenburg in Mineralization of Biogenic Debris in Continental Shelf and Slope Sediments. After a two-year postdoctoral stay at SUNY (Stony Brook), USA, and employment as a junior research fellow, in 2000 he became a senior lecturer at the University of Gothenburg in chemistry with the emphasis on marine chemistry. In 2003 he became a fellow in microbial marine chemistry. His research focuses on the biogeochemical structure and function of coastal marine ecosystems. Appointed from 1 January 2007 as professor in microbial marine chemistry.

Title of dissertation: On the importance of LDL particle size and antibodies against oxidized LDL for early atherosclerosis development
Johannes Hulthe was born in Herrestad in 1970. A University Medical Degree was conferred on him in 1995 and a degree in Business Administration and Economics was conferred on him in 1997 at the University of Gothenburg. He got his doctorate in 1998 and became a Docent in Cardiovascular Prevention in 2002. Since 2002 he has been employed at AstraZeneca R&D in Mölndal and is the Global Director for Early Clinical Research into the cardiovascular and gastro-intestinal areas. On 1 July 2007 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Cardiovascular Pharmaceutical Research at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Thesis: Dental Care Habits, Dental Health and Dental Status Among 2–60 Year Old Individuals in Sweden
Jan Håkansson was born in Kalmar and qualified as a dentist in Malmö, where he also received a specialist qualification in parodontology. He was awarded his PhD by Lund University in 1978 and became a reader in parodontology in 1981. Since 1987 he has been senior dental specialist for what was formerly the National Social Insurance Board, today part of the head office of the National Insurance Agency. He has taught and undertaken research together with colleagues from Lund University, Malmö University College and the Karolinska Institute. Since 15 November 2008 he has held the post of adjunct professor in insurance medicine, specialising in odontology, in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Häggström Olle – Faculty of Science, Matematical Statistics OLLE HÄGGSTRÖM was born in Falun in 1967, and earned his Ph.D. in mathematical statistics in 1994. Since 2000 he is professor of the same subject at the Department of Mathematical Sciences which is joint between Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg. His research interests lie mostly in probability theory and its applications, where his most influential contributions concern so-called percolation processes. He also puts much effort into public debate and popularization of science.

Härenstam Annika – Faculty of Education, Department of Work Science ANNIKA HÄRENSTAM was born in Gothenburg 1949. She defended her thesis “Prison Personnel- Working conditions, stress and health” at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm in 1989. She worked at the Clinic for Occupational Medicine, Stockholm for some years and later at the National Institute for Working Life in Stockholm as a researcher. Associate professor in psychology at Karolinska institutet in 2004, professor in Work organisation at the National Institute for Working Life 2006 and 1 June 2007 she was appointed professor in Work Science. Her research focus on work organisation, working and living conditions and health. She was director of the MOA project (Moderna arbets-och livsvillkor för kvinnor och män­) which aimed at identifying typical situations in todays working life and developing methods for working life research. She is now leading a research project on organisational prerequisites and managers’ and employees’ strategies for the creation of ”good jobs” and a project on social interaction in working life. She is also responsible for the Swedish part of a EU-project: MEADOW (Measuring the dynamics of organisation and work) aiming at guidelines for measuring organizational change and the social and economic consequences in comparative studies.

Hödnebö Tone - Faculty fo Fine, Applied and Performing arts, Literary Composition, Poetry and Prose
Born: 1962
Tone Hødnebø was born in Tønsberg, Norway, and after studying in Oslo has had a career as a writer, translator and essayist. She made her debut in 1989 with the collection of poems entitled Larm. The works she has translated include poems by Emily Dickinson. She is represented in anthologies and journals in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the USA, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Estonia, Hungary and Russia and was co-editor of the literary journal Vagant from 1990 to 1997. During the 1990s she was a member of the board of the Norwegian Writers’ Centre and also the Norwegian Authors’ Union. Between 2000 and 2007 she taught poetry writing courses at Skrivekunstakademiet [Academy of Creative Writing] in Hordaland. She has been a supervisor and lecturer on the creative writing course since 2006. On 1 August 2008 she was appointed adjunct professor in creative writing in the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg.
