Gabrielsson Johan - Sahlgrenska Academy
Title of dissertation: Modeling of Drugs in Pregnancy: The Application of Pharmacokinetic Principles and Physiological Flow Models
John Gabrielsson - born 1955 - was conferred a degree of Master of Science in Pharmacy at Uppsala University in 1980 and got his doctorate in Biopharmacy in 1985. He became a docent in 1987 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco between 1989 - 1990. In 2005 he held the Chair in Pharmacokinetics at the Danish University of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. He is employed at AstraZeneca and on 1 February 2008 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Title of thesis: Studies on salivary immunoglobulin A antibodies reacting with Streptococcus mutans
Lars Gahnberg was born in Solna in 1951 and qualified as a dentist at the University of Gothenburg. He defended his doctoral thesis in 1983 and was appointed visiting research fellow at Forsyth Dental Center, Boston, USA later the same year. He became reader in cariology in 1988 and was visiting professor at the University of Copenhagen between 2002 and 2003. In February 2009 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Oral Health and Community Odontology, with a special interest in oral health in the elderly.
Gan Li-Ming - The Sahlgrenska Academy- LI-MING GAN
Title of thesis: Regulation of vascular function by fluid mechanical forces  Li-Ming Gan was born in Shanghai in 1969 and obtained his medical degree and specialist qualification in clinical physiology at the University of Gothenburg. He defended his doctoral thesis in 2000 and became associate professor in circulatory physiology in 2005. In 2007 he became head of discovery research on atherosclerosis at AstraZeneca, Sweden. In March 2009 he was appointed Professor of Cardiovascular research with a focus on translational medicine and drug development at the University of Gothenburg. His post combines academic work with the clinical role of chief physician at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Gao Shiwu – Faculty of Science, Dept of Physics Gao, Shiwu - The Faculty of Science SHIWU GAO – born in Wuhan, China, in 1963 – earned his Master of Engineering degree at Nanjing University in 1984 . He defended his thesis in 1990 at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, Elektronikstruktur av alkalimetall adsorberad på ytor (Electronic structure of alkali metal adsorbed on surfaces). He became senior lecturer in theoretical physics and was employed as a senior lecturer at Göteborg University in 1997. He has been engaged as a visiting researcher and visiting professor at several universities, among which are Cornell University, Tsinghua University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he became professor and head of the National Key Lab for Surface Physics in 2005.
Appointed from 1 March 2006 as professor in material- and surface physics.

Getz Donald Philip - The School of Business, Economics, and Law, Dept of Business Administration - Donald Getz - The School of Business, Economics And Law - DONALD GETZ, PhD (Guest Professor, Graduate School, Centre for Tourism)
Born: 1949 Donald Getz was born in Exeter, Ontario, Canada. He has studied at the University of Waterloo (Bachelor of Environmental Studies) and Carleton University (Master of Arts) and obtained his PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 1981 (Social Sciences). He retired from full-time academic work in 2009 but remains an Adjunct Professor at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. He is also a Visiting Professor at the School of Tourism, University of Queensland in Australia. He continues to carry out research, consults, and writes in the field of tourism and events. He is one of the founders of the international journal Event Management. He is also on the editorial committees of several international journals on tourism and events . His best-known books include: Festivals, Special Events, and Tourism; Event Management and Event Tourism and Event Studies.

Gillespie Alisdair A. – The IT Faculty - ALISDAIR A. GILLESPIE Born: 1974 Thesis: Child Victims in the Crown Court Alisdair A. Gillespie was born in the United Kingdom and obtained a research degree at the University of Durham in 1999. He is currently Professor of Criminal Law and Justice at De Montfort University and a visiting professor in the IT faculty of the University of Gothenburg, where he is carrying out research on the legal and technical regulation of child pornography and grooming. He was a member of the British Home Office's Task Force on Child Protection on the Internet and is currently a member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety and the ACPO Inter-Agency Legal Advisory Panel on Internet and International Crimes. Since 1 June 2009 he has been Visiting Professor of Criminal Law and Justice at the Department of Applied Information Technology.

Granhag Pär-Anders - Faculty of Social Science, Dept of Psychology PÄR ANDERS GRANHAG – born in Gothenburg in 1964 – defended his thesis, after studying at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, and the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement, Leiden, the Netherlands, at the Gothenburg University in 1996, Realism in Confidence Judgements of Semantic and Episodic Knowledge. He became senior lecturer in psychology 2001. Since 2000 has been head of the forensic psychology research group, Research Unit for Criminal, Legal, and Investigative Psychology (CLIP), at the Department of Psychology, Gothenburg University. Appointed from 1 June 2006 as professor in psychology.
Granström Gösta - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery GÖSTA GRANSTRÖM is born in Stockholm 1950, graduated in Odontology in 1975 and in Medicine in 1982 at the Gothenburg University and became specialist in Otolaryngology in 1988. In 1977 he defended his thesis ”Alkaline phosphatases in biological calcification”. He became associate professor in Histology in 1980 and in Otolaryngology 1989. He is professor in Otolaryngology since January 1, 2000. His research field is mainly focused on craniofacial osseointegration. This involves studies of the possibility to anchor titanium implants in the skeleton to anchor tissue integrated prostheses and hearing aids in relation to cancer rehabilitation, malformations, reduced hearing and compromised tissues. Grauers Folke - The School of Business, Economics, and Law, Dept of Law FOLKE GRAUERS, born in Malmö in 1944, became a Bachelor of Law at Lund University in 1968. Served in the district court in Lund and was a university lecturer at Lund University until 1978. In 1979 he became a university lecturer in commercial law at the Gothenburg University and completed his doctorate in 1980 with the thesis Fel i sålt skepp (Deficiencies in sold ships) In 1984 he was made an associate professor in commercial law. He has specialised in property law, such as conveyancing and usufruct. Professor of Commercial Law at the Gothenburg University from 1 May 2005.

Grout Ian - Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, School of Design and Crafts IAN GROUT – born Epping, UK, 1949 – earned an Industrial Design 1st Class Honours, at Central School London, in 1984. Design Consultancy for worldwide clients including: British Telecom, Plessey, Corning Medical and Heatrae Sadia. Teaching in Product Design, Glasgow School of Art and Internationally from 1996. External Examiner, Goldsmiths London & Les Ateliers Paris. Research interests concern the needs of an ecological aware society and the demands this places on future design. Recent papers and projects include EAD Barcelona, ERA 05 Copenhagen, Ethics 2006 Nantes and EMUDE. Current projects include a Master of World Design programme & a world symposium 7x4x7, designing for quality of life, both being initiated in HDK, Gothenburg University. Appointed Visiting Professor July 1, 2006, in design med inriktning mot produktgestaltning .

Gunnarsson Allan – Faculty of Science, Conservation ALLAN GUNNARSSON – born in Östra Broby in Skåne in 1951 – earned his first degree in landscape architecture in 1982 at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Alnarp and a doctoral degree at the same institution in 1993. His dissertation, which focuses on the history of gardens is entitled Fruktträden och paradiset – om fruktträden som betydelsebärare (Fruit trees and paradise – on fruit trees as signifiers). Since 1994 he has worked at SLU in Alnarp as a senior lecturer with the emphasis on vegetation structure and park maintenance at the faculty for landscape planning, horticultural- and agricultural sciences.
Appointed from 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2009 as visiting professor in garden and landscape management, with a particular responsibility for the development of these subjects
at the Department of Conservation.

Gustafsson Claes - The Sahlgrenska Academy
Born: 1966
Thesis: Molecular mechanisms of DNA replication in Herpes simplex type 1
Claes M. Gustafsson was born in Borås and graduated in medicine from the University of Gothenburg. He was awarded his PhD in 1995 on the basis of a thesis on the mechanisms of DNA replication in herpes simplex virus. From 1995 to 1997 he was guest researcher at Stanford University where he studied regulated gene transcription in advanced cells. On his return to Sweden he moved to the Karolinska Institute, where he stayed until 2008. Among his awards are the Anders Jahre prize for young researchers and the Göran Gustafsson prize in chemistry. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Science. Since 1 January 2009 he has held tenure as professor of medical chemistry in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Gustafsson Björn - Faculty of Social Science, Dept of Social Work BJÖRN A GUSTAFSSON received his Ph.D. in economics in 1979 at Göteborg university. Previously he was a senior lecturer in public economics at University College at Örebro. Since 1996 he is Senior Researcher in Social Policy at the Swedish Council of Social Research (SFR and joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 1999. Gustafsson's present research covers empirical studies on social assistance, poverty, the distribution of income and immigrants. He has been involved in various comparative studies. Since the mid-1990s is one of his research interest the distribution of income and poverty in China.

Göransson Bengt - The Faculty of Education - BENGT GÖRANSSON - The Faculty of Education - BENGT GÖRANSSON Born: 1932 Bengt Göransson was born in Stockholm and worked in the travel industry before becoming Head of National Federation of Peoples Houses in 1971. In 1982 he became a cabinet minister and from 1985 to 1991 was a Member of the Swedish Parliament for the Gothenburg constituency. He was Minister of Education from 1989 to 1991. He has been Chairman and a director of a number of organisations such as Ansvar Insurance Company, Svenska Riksteatern (National Theatre Centre), the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands and the Norden Association as well as Cabinet Minister for Cultural Affairs. He has also been active in the temperance movement and has been on the committee of a number of public inquiries. He has also carried out adult education work, primarily at ABF-huset, Stockholm. Since 1 January 2010 he has been the Torgny Segerstedt Memorial Visiting Professor.
