Robert Eggersten was born in Uppsala in 1948. A degree of Master of Science in Medicine was conferred on him at the University of Gothenburg in 1973. He is a specialist in General Medicine and Internal Medicine. He got his doctorate in 1984 at the University of Gothenburg and was appointed Docent in General Medicine in 1988. In 2001 he became a university lecturer, and on 1 May 2007 he was appointed Adjunct Professor in General Medicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Born: 1955
Annika Ekdahl was born in Stockholm in 1955. After taking programmes in religious studies and Swedish at Lund University, she began her exploration of the individual features and possibilities of textile art. In 1994 she was awarded a master’s degree at the School of Design and Crafts. Alongside her own artistic production, she has been actively involved in art policy in Sweden and has undertaken teaching assignments. In recent years she has attracted national and international attention mainly for her large-scale tapestries. Since 1 November 2008 she has held the post of adjunct professor in textile art at the School of Design and Crafts in the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Title of dissertation: Being old and living with severe chronic heart failure. Patients’ experiences and evaluation of a care intervention
Inger Ekman was born in Åsele in 1952 and she got her doctorate in 1999 at Umeå University. In 2004 she became a Docent in Nursing Science at the University of Gothenburg, and from 1 July 2007 she was appointed Professor of Nursing Science at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. The position is linked to the position of nurse at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Karin M. Ekström was born in Katrineholm and received a master’s degree in economics from Linköping University in 1982, an MBA from Washington State University in 1986 and her PhD in business administration from the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg in 1995. She was appointed to a senior lectureship in 1996 and became a reader in 2001. In 1997 she set up a network for interdisciplinary consumer research and also initiated the foundation of the Centre for Consumer Science in 2001 and was its director until 2008. Since 1 July 2008 she has been professor of business administration in the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.

Born: 1940
Jan Eliasson was born in Gothenburg, matriculated from Hvitfeldtska gymnasiet in 1960 and was awarded a master’s degree in economics by the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg in 1965. He has had a long career in the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and served for instance in Germany, France, Zimbabwe and the USA. He was Sweden’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York 1988-1992, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations 1992-1994, Swedish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs 1994-2000, Ambassador to Washington 2000-2005 and Sweden’s Foreign Minister in 2006. He has also carried out humanitarian and mediation missions for the United Nations in Asia, the Balkans and Africa, most recently in Darfur/Sudan. Since 1 September 2008 he is a holder of the Torgny Segerstedt Visiting Professorship as guest professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gothenburg.

Bengt I Eriksson was born in Gothenburg and graduated in medicine in 1972. He received a specialist qualification in orthopaedics in 1978 and was awarded his PhD in 1991 by the University of Gothenburg . He was also awarded a doctorate in medical science in 1996 and became reader in orthopaedics in the same year. He has worked at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital since 1974 and is now a senior consultant in the hospital’s orthopaedic unit in Mölndal. His most important research area is prevention and causal mechanisms underlying thromboembolic complications in connection with orthopaedic surgery, treatment and rehabilitation after joint and soft tissue injuries in the lower extremities. He is a member of a several scientific committees for the study of the prevention of thrombosis. Since 1 February 2008 he has held the post of adjunct professor of orthopaedics in the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

Eriksson Jan - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Institute of Medicine JAN ERIKSSON – born in 1959 in Mölndal – earned his medical degree in 1984 and is a specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology. He defended his thesis in 1992 at the University of Gothenburg on the effect mechanisms of insulin in fat cells, Insulin signalling mechanisms – regulation of receptor binding and insulin sensitivity in adipocytes, and in 1996 became associate professor in internal medicine at the same university. During the period 1996–2003 he was head physician at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå, where he also served as senior lecturer and where in 2003 he was appointed professor in medicine. Since 2003 he has chiefly been active as a scientific expert within the diabetes field at AstraZeneca R&D in Mölndal. Appointed from 1 January 2007 as adjunct professor in medicine.

Andrew Ewing was born in Huntington, New York, USA in 1957. He became Professor of Chemistry at Penn State University in 1992 and Professor of Neural and Behavorial Sciences in 2003. His research concerns analytical chemistry in and at single cells and the measurement of chemical communication between nerve cells. On 1 May 2007 he was appointed European Union Guest Professsor at the Faculty of Science at the University of Gothenburg.
