Title of dissertation: Halogenated Phenolic Compounds in the Marine Environment
Katarina Abrahamsson was born in Uppsala in 1957 and studied Chemistry and Biology at the University of Gothenburg. She got her doctorate in Chemistry in 1990 and first became a postdoctoral fellow and later a Docent in Marine Chemistry in 1996. She became a Docent in Analytical and Marine Chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology in 1998, an Associate Professor in 2001 and Professor in 2004. On 1 January 2008 she was appointed Professor of Analytical and Marine Chemistry at the Faculty of Science at the University of Gothenburg.

Ahlstedt Eva – Faculty of Arts, Dept of Languages and Literatures EVA AHLSTEDT – born in Lund in 1949 – defended her doctor’s thesis at the University of Gothenburg in 1983 where she was appointed as a researcher at the Department of Romance languages in 1986. Appointed as lecturer at the University of Örebro in 1994, as lecturer at the University of Gothenburg in 1997. Promoted to senior lecturer in 1998 and to professor in 2007. Field of research: French Twentieth Century Literature. Her thesis analysed the reception of Proust’s work in France, a second book the reception of Gide’s work. A third book and several articles are devoted to Marguerite Duras’s work. As a co-translator, she has translated some of Strindberg’s books into French and has also studied Strindberg’s reception in France.

Albrektsson Tomas - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Dept of Handicap Research TOMAS ALBREKTSSON MD, Ph D, ODhc, Head of Research group that uses directed basic science to develop new biomaterials for clinical usage. Albrektsson was a member of the group that developed the first controlled oral implant system ever, he then participated in experimental work and the first clinical trials of craniofacial implants, today used as anchorage for external hearing aids (BAHA) or facial epistheses. Experimental work has been centered on choice of suitable biomaterials, surface science and healing conditions for compromised bone. Basic science work to develop new hip and knee arthroplasties started by the mid 1980s with the testing of bone anchorage and tribological phenomena; this project has today resulted in most positive 5-year clinical results of a novel hip concept that has been tested and developed all the way from basic science to clinical reality, including data from a randomized, controlled clinical trial.
Alden Mats – Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, School of Design and Crafts MATS ALDÉN – born in Stockholm in 1958 – was employed at professor Åke Axelsson’s Architect's office after studying at Capellagården School of Craft and Design and Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. He started his own design business in Stockholm in 1995. Works as a designer, interior designer and lecturer and has participated in a number of design exhibitions in the Nordic region. He has received several design awards. He has been teaching as an associate lecturer since 1996, and from 2003 as a lecturer in furniture design at the Department of Furniture Design and Interiors at the University College of Arts and Design in Stockholm. Started up the company www.aldenfurniture.com in the year 2000. Appointed from 1 November 2006 as adjunct professor in furniture construction with the emphasis on furniture design.

Alexandersson Mikael – Faculty of Education, Learning and Teaching Unit Department of Education and Didactics. Dean at the Faculty of education and Co-director of LinCS, The Linnaeus Centre for Research on Learning, Interaction and Mediated Communication in Contemporary Society. Main research interests: The teaching and learning process when it occurs in ICT environments (e.g. via artefacts as cd-rom, Internet, e-mail and multimedia) and how different school reforms effects teachers' daily work and how teachers learn through their own practice.

Allwood Carl-Martin - Faculty of Social Sciences, Dept of Psychology
Born: 1952
Thesis: Knowledge, technique and detection of errors in statistical problem solving
Carl Martin Allwood was born in Falköping and awarded his PhD at the University of Gothenburg in 1982. He was on the staff of the University of Gothenburg from 1974 to 1998 apart from four months in 1979 spent at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA and three months in 1980 at the University of California at San Diego, USA. In 1987 he was appointed reader. Between 1998 and 2008 he was professor of psychology at Lund University. He spent some time in 2005 as a guest researcher at NISTADS in New Delhi in India and the School of Management, Zeijiang University, China. Since 1 September 2008 he has been professor of psychology in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gothenburg.

Almered Olsson Gunilla - Social Sciences, School of Global Studies The Faculty of Social Sciences GUNILLA ALMERED OLSSON – born in Sätila in 1951 – trained in biology at the University of Gothenburg and defended her thesis in plant ecology at Lund University in 1984, Old Field Forest Succession in the Swedish West Coast Archipelago. An interdisciplinary perspective on economizing natural resources and ecology has been developed through research projects with interdisciplinary cooperation in Scandinavia, Europe and Africa. She has worked on issues of natural resources within Swedish administrations and in the UN. Since 1990 employed as assistant professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. She was visiting professor in environmental science at Karlstad University 2001– 2003 and simultaneously held Karlstad University’s Edberg honorary professorship. Appointed from 1 July 2006 as professor in human ecology.

Title of dissertation: Neuropsychiatric background factors to violent crime
Henrik Anckarsäter was born in Gothenburg. A degree of Master of Science in Medicine and degree of Bachelor were conferred on him at the University of Gothenburg. He got his doctorate in 2002 and in 2005 he was appointed Docent and Chief Physician in Malmö/Lund. In 2006 he held the position of Guest Professor at Université de Paris XII Val de Marne. He is Chief Physician in Forensic Psychiatry and was appointed Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg on 1 January 2008.

Andersen Oluf - The Sahlgrenska Academy, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Dept of Clinical Neurosciences OLUF ANDERSEN - born 1941. University Medical Degree in Copenhagen 1968. Since then employed at the Neurology Department of Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. 1980 PhD degree at the University of Gothenburg based on a thesis on the dissemination of MS lesions. 1985 associate professor at the University of Gothenburg and a post doc period at VA/UCLA in Los Angeles (host professor Wallace Tourtellotte). Professor at the Institution of Neuroscience and Physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy since 2002. Head of MS epidemiology research group. Main interests are prognostic studies in multiple sclerosis using longitudinal patient materials with up to 50 years follow up by the research group, immunological studies of a genetic trait for MS in healthy relatives, and MS virology, in particular the issue if there are obligatory infections in the preclinical stages of MS.

Sven Andersson was born in Alingsås and was awarded his PhD in the theory of science in 1960 by the University of Gothenburg. He was appointed reader in 1996 and also research group leader at Chalmers University of Technology’s Centre for Knowledge Development and Communication, where he later became director. From 2000 he also ran doctoral programmes in digital creation at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts. Since 1 September 2008 he has held the post of adjunct professor in the School of Photography in the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Senior lecturer at Södertörn University College 1999 and at the University of Gothenburg 2003. Professor in The History of Ideas and Science at Göteborg University from 2005. Also working for The Centre for Public Sector Research (CEFOS). Has earlier pursued research in the history of economic ideas, on the ideologies of students, and on Central European identities. Carries out research since 2000 on the concept of citizenship and how it is related to ideas of a local community. Recent research on the societal dynamics of spent nuclear fuel and on European borders.

Born: 1963
Lotta Antonsson was trained at the academy of photography at Konstfack, the University College of Arts Crafts and Design in Stockholm and also at the Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Since the early 1990s she has exhibited internationally in venues such as New York, London, Paris and Berlin. On 1 March 2008 she was appointed adjunct professor in creative photography in the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg.
