You can find us in many places

The vast extent of the University of Gothenburg’s engagement and influence in the community is difficult to describe in just a few words. You can find us in more places than you may think.

Since our programmes in nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, midwifery, dentistry and physiotherapy include placement periods, you may encounter our students at hospitals, district health care centres and dental clinics across the region.

Similarly, our student teachers can be found at just about any school in the area, and our journalism students can be observed practising their future occupation at a variety of locations.

Our researchers participate in public inquiries, construct the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (Högskoleprovet) and national tests for Swedish schools, compile the Swedish Academy Glossary, develop substances for new medicines, conduct research to improve the care sector, construct tools and furniture, explore our history to better understand the present and the future, participate in debates and write books. In addition, large numbers of University of Gothenburg alumni can be found in offices, laboratories, plants and other types of job sites across both Sweden and the world.

Here are some of the places where you can meet us:

Gothenburg Botanical Garden
Research and development is an important part of the work at the Botanical Garden. Researchers from the University of Gothenburg work in the garden and go on research trips to explore plants and trees, analysing their diversity, relationships and development. The effect of nature and gardens on people’s health is another topic of interest. They also work to save endangered species and make advances within horticulture.
