The University's ideals are based on a critical and free discussion and on substantial freedom for researchers and lecturers to formulate their own activities.
This freedom brings with it a responsibility to subject oneself to assessments and discussions by other researchers and lecturers as well as to take part in this work oneself. The knowledge produced at the University shall be made freely available for general use. Within the university respect and tolerance will characterise the relationship between all people, irrespective of role, gender, cultural, political or religious background. Special consideration shall be given to persons with some form of disability.

The University's credibility in society is based on the quality of the research and the teaching including the administrative and organisational quality and professionalism.
Everybody who is engaged at the University of Gothenburg shall uphold a high standard of research and teaching practice, good study practice and good administrative practice. Everyone has a personal responsibility to continually develop and follow up the ethical aspects of their activities.
