  • Khalil Helou pleased to receive the 2013 grant in memory of Eva Selin Lindgren

    [27 Mar 2013] The first grant in memory of Eva Selin Lindgren was awarded to breast cancer researcher Khalil Helou at the Sahlgrenska Academy. -I am grateful for the recognition and pleased to have been chosen. It was also a huge pleasure to see so many people at the ceremony. It was an honor to meet Eva Selin Lindgren´s husband and son, and at the same time a sorrowful reminder of a great loss.

  • "Unknown" neurological disorder often incorrectly diagnosed

    [26 Mar 2013] The very serious hereditary disease HDLS was discovered in 1984 in Sweden. Many HDLS patients are still incorrectly diagnosed with Alzheimer´s disease, MS or Parkinson´s disease, but researchers at the Sahlgrenska Academy have now developed a more certain diagnosis method - and are seeking to find a treatment for the "unknown" neurological disorder.

  • Anemia drugs does not improve health of anemic heart failure patients

    [12 Mar 2013] Researchers from Sahlgrenska Academy have found that a commonly used drug to treat anemia in heart failure patients does not improve patients¿ health, nor does it reduce their risk of death from heart failure. Results of the international study were presented at the American College of Cardiology's annual meeting in San Francisco on March 10 and published simultaneously online by The New England Journal of Medicine.

    [5 Mar 2013] The Environmental Economics Unit offers specialization courses in Environmental and Climate Economics. These courses are given every other year as part of the Sida funded PhD program. Apart from our own PhD students, we offer eight Sida funded scholarships to PhD students from developing countries.
