The Swedish Human Rights Forum 2012

Conference

The Swedish Rights Forum for Human Rights is the largest forum for human rights in Scandinavian, which this year will be held in Gothenburg.

Human Rights are universal and apply to all human beings with no distinction. But the possibilities for one and other to get their rights provided for are very different, both within and between states. Doesn¿t everybody have the right to Human Rights? If so, who is responsible?

The main speaker, Richard Wilkinson has, together with Kate Picket, written the book The Spirit Level. Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better (Penguin Books Ltd, 2009) witch content claims that societies with more equal distribution of incomes have better health, relate to this year¿s theme of the forum and it elucidate what will happen when societies grow too much apart.

During two days universities, business and authorities on a central, regional and local level, teachers and students from secondary schools and colleges, and non-governmental organizations take part in a smorgasbord of seminars, debates and workshops. All related to Human Rights issues.

There will also be a no-fee part of conference. It¿s an exhibition with mini seminars, movies and several booths with information from authorities, businesses and non-governmental organizations to visit.
