International Credit Mobility (ICM)

Mobilities for students and staff within Europe, financed by the EU, has been a reality for more than 25 years within the well-known Erasmus programme. Within the current framework programme Erasmus (2014/2020), the EU has now introduced a new programme for such mobilities between Europe and non-European countries – International Credit Mobility – ICM.

The first call (of six) came in autumn 2014 and included possibilities to apply for mobility grants (both ways) between a European institution and strategic partner institutions throughout the world within certain budgets restrictions regarding geographical regions. For approved mobility projects, including a budget from EU, a special agreement is signed between two institutions to enable mobility.

In the first call, the University of Gothenburg applied for 28 mobility grants for six strategic partner universities outside Europe and was granted all of them for the duration of the project 1.6.2015 – 31.5.2017 (two academic years).

In the second call, which came in autumn 2015, the University of Gothenburg received 49 mobility grants for 5 strategic partner universities outside Europe for the duration of the project 1.6.2016 – 31.7.2018 (two academic years).
