The School of Business, Economics and Law is recruiting a professor in economics with expertise in econometrics or applied econometrics, to be based in the Department of Economics. The Department of Economics has about 90 employees. Further information can be found at http://www.economics.gu.se.

Job assignments

We welcome applicants with expertise in econometrics or applied econometrics. The job involves conducting, planning, and leading research and teaching. Teaching on econometrics courses at the PhD level will be required. The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to the Department?s research environment, and participate in the planning of research projects and in applications for research funding.

Eligibility

The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 § of the Higher Education Ordinance and the University of Gothenburg?s employment rules.

Assessment

The applicant?s research record and future research potential are the primary evaluation criteria. Pedagogical and administrative abilities, and experience of interaction with the surrounding society, are also taken into account. In the assessment of pedagogical skills, special emphasis is put on teaching and supervision at the doctoral level and in econometrics. Experience of directing large research projects in economics is a merit. Personal characteristics and collaborative skills will also be considered.

  • CV, including: a list of publications; a record of the applicant’s teaching merits containing information about the extent and level of teaching and evaluations of its quality; a record of externally funded research projects led by the applicant with actual amounts raised stated explicitly; and a record of activities related to collaboration or interaction with the surrounding society.

  • Research statement, characterizing the applicant’s past research contributions and describing their current and future research agenda (maximum 6 pages).

  • Selection of (no more than 10) publications or working papers that best demonstrate the applicant’s research contributions. Please provide a brief statement motivating the choice of submitted papers.

  • Teaching statement (maximum 2 pages).


Other documents considered relevant by the applicant for the assessment may also be included in the application.



Personal circumstances (e.g. parental leave) will be taken into account in the assessment, and must be specified in the application.

Selection process


The selection process will include assessments by external reviewers, interviews, guest lectures, and/or research seminars.
