Subject area

Specific subject description

The subject area of Japanese at the University of Gothenburg offers education at all levels – first cycle, second cycle and third cycle – and cooperates with several other subjects at the Department of Languages and Literatures. It is also involved in several study programmes both at the Department and elsewhere at the University. Examples include the programmes in business and economics and international languages. Research is conducted for example in the areas of phonetics, dialectology and translation studies.

The subject is attracting an increasing number of students and has a good potential for expansion in the near future. The Department is therefore hiring several Senior Lecturers and a Professor.

Teaching within the framework of the Department?s interdisciplinary programmes, for example those in international languages, and language and intercultural communication, may also be required. As the successful applicant will be expected to participate broadly in the Department?s activities, other duties may be required as well.
