Pro-Vice-Chancellor Margareta Wallin Peterson

Since 2004, Margareta Wallin Peterson has served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Gothenburg with a special focus on external relations and innovation efforts. She is a member of the University’s Management Team and the Vice-Chancellor’s Management Council, and has the right to be present and to be heard at University Board meetings.

Margareta Wallin Peterson is Professor of Zoophysiology and has served as Vice Head of Department at the Department of Zoology as well as Vice Dean and Associate Dean at the Faculty of Science, University of Gothenburg. Her research area is within cell and molecular biology with a special interest in how animals are able to change skin colour. In addition to her broad teaching experience, she has worked as Director of Studies and has also been actively involved in various pedagogical development projects. In 1996, she received the University of Gothenburgs’s first Pedagogical Team Prize.

Margareta Wallin Peterson holds several board and steering committee memberships, both internally and externally. She has external assignments at Jönköping University, Aarhus University, Universeum AB and the Nordens Ark Foundation, to name a few. At the University of Gothenburg, she is for example Chair of the Vice-Chancellor’s Committee on External Relations, of the University of Gothenburg’s holding company GU Holding, and of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

From 2002 to 2008, Wallin Peterson was Vice Chair of the Council for Identity and Image. She also led the work to develop the University’s strategic plan for the years 2007-2010 and the strategies for research and education for the years 2009-2012. Since 2009, she directs the revision of the strategies for research and education (2011-2012) and the work with the next strategy document to be developed – University of Gothenburg 2020.
