Pro-Vice-Chancellor Lennart Weibull is professor in mass media research since 1989 and one of the heads of the SOM Institute at the University of Gothenburg.
Lennart Weibull completed a doctorate in political science, however, since the 1970s he has primarily been teaching and researching on the mass media. His research projects have included the party-political press, newspaper-reading, journalistic ethics and media history, and he has written on political lobbying.
Between 1971 and 1985 Lennart Weibull was, with brief interludes, director of studies for information- and media courses at the University of Gothenburg. 1991-1996 he was head of department at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMG) and 1999-2006 dean of the Faculty of Social Science, 2003-2006 also coordinating dean for the humanities-social sciences field on the Vice-Chancellor’s management council. As Vice-Chancellor at the University of Gothenburg he is Vice-Chancellor Pam Fredman’s deputy.
