The University of Gothenburg is an international university, engaged in some 2,300 collaborative projects in different parts of the world. The University cooperates mainly with countries in the EU but has important partners in all regions of the globe.
An increasing number of links with other parts of the world are being developed. The University of Gothenburg is the only Swedish university with centres for research and education focusing on all regions of the world, for instance Africa, Asia and Latin America. GSGS, the School of Global Studies, is the name of a new centre whose task is to facilitate cooperation with countries outside Europe and the United States. The Centre is working to attract international funding, guest lecturers and students from abroad and to promote international exchange and masters programmes.
Exchange Student Services, a part of the Student Affairs, is in charge of welcoming and introducing exchange students to the University of Gothenburg.
The University of Gothenburg has also been appointed a “Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence” for its outstanding research on Europe.
