The International Centre

The International Centre (IC) is part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and deals with University-wide internationalisation issues, preparation of strategically important issues related to internationalisation at the University of Gothenburg, and implementation of the University’s internationalisation policy.
In addition, IC serves as the University’s point of contact towards the surrounding world, to which foreign and Swedish organisations can turn regarding internationalisation issues.
The unit shall reinforce and promote the University of Gothenburg’s position as an internationally relevant and active university, and shall strive to make the University’s internationalisation efforts noticeable.

The Centre’s tasks include:

  • Signing and maintenance of international agreements/ partnerships
  • Cooperation with other higher education institutions and certain government agencies, both in Sweden and internationally (the Swedish Institute, the International Programme Office for Education and Training, the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education etc.)
  • Serving as the unit at the University of Gothenburg in charge of the mobility programmes Erasmus (the Programme for Lifelong Learning), Erasmus Mundus, Linnaeus-Palme and Nordlys, as well as various international networks and organisations
  • Provision of information concerning internationalisation issues to staff and students at the University of Gothenburg
  • Planning and follow-up of the University’s own internationalisation initiatives such as Global Week and The Global University
  • Administration of international student, teacher and staff mobility
  • Coordination of the internationalisation efforts conducted at the Faculties, Departments and Centres of Expertise and Research
  • Management of the University’s mobility system, MoveOn

Internationalisation Task Force

The University’s Internationalisation Task Force is in charge of the operative work, as well as the distribution of information and exchange of experiences across the University. The group consists of at least one representative from every Faculty at the University.
